Samuel C. Johnson went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 29th, 2019.

Known by his family and friends as “Clint,” he was born May 20th, 1925 in Castlewood, VA. He graduated from Temple Hill High School in Castlewood, Virginia.  Clint was a Veteran of the US Army where he served proudly as a Sergeant during World War II from 1944-1946.  He served in Japan and the Philippines.

He was employed as a General Foreman for 32 years for Consolidation Coal Company in Bishop, VA. He always had a contagious smile on his face and loved to make you laugh. He enjoyed dancing, swimming, gardening and roller skating. He will be missed by all that knew him, especially his Family.

He was a Member of the American Legion Post #3 and a Lifetime Member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was of Christian Faith.

Clint was preceded in death by his parents, Susie Ethel Johnson (Rasnick) and Benjamin Franklin Johnson; his brothers, Charlie B. Johnson, Blaine (Buck) Johnson and John H. Johnson; sisters, Lynn Johnson and Rachel Harrison; special sister-in-law, Joanetta Johnson; step-daughter, Samantha Johnson; and grandson, Scott Davis Showers.

He is survived by his son, Samuel C. Johnson Jr. and wife, Kim of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter, Sandi Lee Tristan of Grand Cayman Islands; grandson, Michael William Showers of Harrisburg, PA; sister, Evelyn Johnson Minton of Kingsport, TN; brother, Ben Johnson and wife, Linda, of Blountville, TN; special great niece, Victoria Elliott, of Kingsport; and many nieces and nephews of Kingsport, TN.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 from 10-11am at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11am at the Funeral Home with Dr. Billie J. Minton officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265 at the beginning of the service.

Pallbearers will be Chad P. Barrett, Richard Bateman, Scott Bateman, Philip Bateman and Michael Bateman.

A committal service will follow immediately after the service at East Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
