Samuel Paul Jones

Samuel Paul Jones, 93, of Limestone, passed away peacefully Monday January 27, 2014, at his home.

Paul was born January 1, 1921, in Washington County and was a son of the late Tom and Mary Lee Jones. He was a native of Jonesborough and lived in the local area his entire life.
He was retired from the Mead Corporation, a Free Mason, and the "unofficial" mayor of Fall Branch. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
He was a great storyteller and loved his family, his dog and taking care of his ponies.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jones, his two sons, Sam Jones and Larry Jones.

Samuel Paul is survived by his daughter, Judy Webb; his five grandchildren; his eight great-grandchildren; and his dog, Jack.

The family would like to thank Hospice and caregivers Tim and Debbie Lawson, Nancy Lawson, Mike Mellons, Beth Finch and special nephew Jimmy Hayes.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Greg Davis officiating.

The graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:00 noon on Thursday and then proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hayes, Eddie Williams, and his coffee drinking buddies at Boonies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Humane Society, P.O. Box 4090, Johnson City, TN.
