Sara Ruth Hurd, 67, Kingsport, TN, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Gladys Cheek; and sister, Nancy Dotson.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bill Hurd; daughters, Tami Bumgarner, and Lora Athey and husband, Jason; step-daughter, Teresa Vest and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Mason Athey, and Travis Vest; sister, Justine Hill; brother, David Cheek; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Robert Cole officiating.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014, at Mt. Home National Cemetery in Johnson City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
