Sara H. Lyon of Johnson City died Thursday morning, March 6, 2008, at Wexford House.
Born in Morristown, Tennessee, she had resided in Syosset, Long Island, New York, most of her adult life before returning to Johnson City in 1982.
During her career years she worked for the Australian government in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, during World War II as an executive secretary. In addition, she later worked as an executive secretary for several companies in New York. Mrs. Lyon was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Johnson City. She was active in the Johnson City Monday Club, Tuesday Bridge Club, and the House and Garden Club.
Her husband, Robert W. Lyon Jr., and a sister, Doris Carlock, preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Robert William Lyon III and wife Emmanuelle of Paris, France; two grandsons, Jesse and Mathias Lyon; a niece, Mary "Sister" Brewer and husband Gordon and their daughter Rebecca of Kingsport; and an uncle, Ed Horner of Germantown, TN.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 19, 2008 in the chapel of St. John's Episcopal Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with The Rev. Hal Hutchison and The Rev. Edward James Mills, III officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Johnson City Public Library, 100 W. Millard Street, Johnson City, TN 37604
