Selma Smallwood

Selma Smallwood, 99, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Netherland Healthcare. She was a former resident of Preston Place.

Mrs. Smallwood attended Kingsley United Methodist Church and had worked as a nurse at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Smallwood.

Surviving are two daughters, Sue Grubbs of Goldsboro, NC and Jane Smallwood of Kingsport; one son, Jim Smallwood and wife Joy of Kingsport; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charlsie Brown of Bridgeport, AL.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joel Campbell officiating. Music will be presented by John Powers.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Family members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
