Sergeant First Class Robert "Bobby" Lewis Tipton

Sergeant First Class Robert "Bobby" Lewis Tipton, 45, left his earthly home on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his home in Catlettsburg, KY. He was born on April 26, 1970 in Kingsport, TN. During his senior year of high school he joined the Army Reserves. He worked for the City of Kingsport for several years before joining the United States Army full time, where he served for 24 years until his death. Bobby was very honored and proud to serve his county, with three tours overseas.

Bobby was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Halbert and Vergie McCraw; paternal grandparents, Jack and Barbara Tipton; great-grandmother, Lelia Smith; special uncle, Charles "Ronnie" McCraw; and step-brother, Randy Patrick.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Massey Tipton, of KY; mother, Helen Tipton of KY; father and step-mother, Gary and Beulah Tipton of Kingsport, TN; daughters, Becky Tipton of Fall Branch, and Brittany Gilbert and husband, Kelsie of OR; sister, Kimberlie Tipton of GA; one niece and nephew of GA; one grandson and granddaughter of OR; three stepsons and one step-daughter of KY; two special cousins, Stephanie McCraw Miller and husband, Travis of VA, and Timothy McCraw and wife, Samantha of Kingsport; half-sister, Ocie McCarty of Blountville; half-brother, Buddy McCarty of Blountville; step-sister, Teresa Patrick Marshall of Kingsport; step-brother, Wayne Patrick of NC; one aunt; two great-aunts; and many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-
Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, TN and at other hours at the residence of Gary Tipton. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating.
