Serl M. Fulwiler, 92, of Fall Branch, joined his wife and heavenly Father, Friday, September 5, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Fall Branch where he resided his entire life. Mr. Fulwiler was a medic for the U. S. Army during World War II, retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1976 with 39 years of service, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fall Branch.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James E. and Nora Spears Fulwiler; his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Lewis Fulwiler; and four brothers, Burl, Harold, Howell, and Paul Fulwiler.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Hicks and husband Robert Jr. of Blountville; a son, Mark Fulwiler of Fall Branch; one brother, Dorsie Fulwiler of Kingsport; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family wishes to send special thanks to Rose Barnette and Junette Clark, his loving caregivers for the past two months, and the Holston Valley nursing staff on W-3.
Receiving of friends will be from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Fall Branch. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Carl Strickler and Rev. Vic Wallace officiating. Music will be provided by First Baptist Church of Fall Branch Choir.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Jonesborough with military rites by American Legion Post No. 3/265. Pallbearers will be Mike Lewis, Steve Lewis, Billy Jo Lewis, Lynn Gibson, Craig Hood, Jason Hood, and Jim Fulwiler.
