Sherrill H. Depew, 84, of Kingsport, died Monday morning after an extended illness. Born in Sullivan Gardens, he was a graduate of Sullivan High School. Sherrill served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a vice president from First American Bank after 38 years and was a vice president. Sherrill was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church for 42 years and served in various capacities. He enjoyed spending time on Boone Lake with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Onnie and Odell Depew and first wife, Virginia Hunt Depew.
Sherrill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Willa G. Depew of Kingsport; daughters, Kathryn Kerns and husband, Tommy of Kingsport, and Karen Haynie and husband, Craig of Kingsport; son, Kenneth Depew and wife, Michelle of Kingsport; stepdaughter, Joyce Woodard and husband, Bennett of Kingsport; stepson, Craig Haynie and wife, Karen of Kingsport; nine grandsons; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Keener Depew and wife, Jackie of Kingsport; sister; Sara Lou Depew of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11 from 12-1:30 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 with Pastor David Salley and Sam Haynie officiating.
Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
