Shirley Martin Britt, 75, of Kingsport passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at her home.
She was born in Lebanon, VA and resided in Kingsport since 1951. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and was a member of St Luke United Methodist Church.
She was a loving Mother and Nana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Britt and her parents Steve J and Hazel P Martin.
She is survived by her daughters, Becky Cabell & husband Jerry and Janie Gortney & husband Chris; her sons, Steve Britt & wife Elizabeth and Marty Britt; grandchildren, Rachel Kindle & husband Dave, Chad Cabell & finacee Morgan Pecktol, Tyler Cabell & finacee Caroline Bowery, Stephanie Britt, Khazel Gortney and Michael "Mikey" Britt; great-grandson Cody Goode; uncles Lloyd Martin & wife Betty and Jack Martin & wife Betty Ann along with several cousins. Also, special friends Evelyn McConnell, Dot Gilliam, Maryetta Russell, Millard & Erma Burton and Peggy Cleary.
The entire family would like to express their deepest thanks for the care given to Mother by Dr Daryl Pierce and his staff along with the staff & volunteers at the Southwest VA Cancer Center.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday April 30, 2011 at St Luke United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 7pm Saturday at St Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Edmonds, Rev. Ray Amos, Jr. and Rev. Susan Arnold officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Southwest VA Cancer Center, 671 Hwy 58 East, Norton, VA 24273.
