Shirley Hammonds Byrd

Shirley Hammonds Byrd, 76, Church Hill, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Shirley attended Spring Dale Baptist Church and was an avid supporter of St. Jude's Hospital. She enjoyed life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eual Gene Byrd, parents, Elizabeth and Steve Hammonds, and several sisters and brothers.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Janet Leigh Wood and husband, Rodney Joel, and Shelby Jean Parker and husband, Gerald; grandchildren, Dustin Cook, Crystal East and husband, Mike, Rory Clayton Cook, Brandon Parker and wife, Heather, Cindy Cleek and Amber Cleek; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A special thanks to the staff of Indian Path Medical Center, 7th Floor, for their special care.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 3-5:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 pm with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh and Tim Vaughn officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Cook, Brandon Parker, Tom Murray, Marty Catron, Todd Rutledge and Aaron Chesser.
