Shirley Pearson Christian

Shirley Pearson Christian, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Indian Path Medical Center. A native of Lee Valley, TN, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Eva Greene Pearson, moving to this area when she was a teenager. She was a Twirlette at Sullivan High School. Shirley was a member of Gravely Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School. She was an excellent candy maker and especially liked making fudge, affectionately known as the "candy lady" by her grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 48 years, Billy Elvert Christian (June 14, 2007), and her sister, Mildred Pearson.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Tammy Sauls and husband, Jim of the home, and Tonya Gasior and husband, Victor II of Bartlett, TN; son, Tim Christian and wife, Shana of Lynchburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Josh, Jordan, Jason, Jade and Reese Christian, Victor III and Christian Gasior; great-granddaughter, Keagan Alexus Christian; sister, Blanche Patterson and husband, Frank; brother, Burleigh Pearson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Monday (November 10, 2014) at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday (November 12, 2014) at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN, Those attending graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50pm Wednesday.
