Shirley Mae Gothard, 73, Kingsport, passed away Saturday morning May 19, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a life-long resident of Sullivan County and a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gothard retired after fourteen years as District Manager of Avon Products. She also worked in the office of the Appalachian Fair.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Decatur and Louise Bullis; and one brother, J. E. Bullis.
Surviving are her husband, Bill M. Gothard; one daughter, Denise Gibbons and husband Jerry; one son, Dan Gothard, all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Wendi Gibson and husband, Chris, Brian Cavin, Andrew and Jordan Gibbons, Brad and Caitie Gothard; great-grandsons, Brandon and Corey Gibson; brother, Wallace Bullis, Blountville; and sister, Evelyn Crane, Kingsport.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Al South officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Beulah Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold Norris, Vernon McCray, Jerry Hall, Hugh Coffman, Arnold Sexton, and J. D. Lay. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Malone, Bud Gothard, Richard Hall, Lynn Gardner, Danny Blalock, and Everette Sells.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to ?Miss Shirley? Laney for her loving care given to our ?Shirley?. We will always consider her a part of our family.
