Shirley Mae Gilliam Head, 75, of the Fordtown Community, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 at her home due to declining health. She was very loved and will be missed dearly by her remaining loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Cecil Head; parents, Mitchell Edward Gilliam and Bonnie Lee Presley Gilliam; two infant brothers, Paul and Arthur Gilliam; and a brother-in-law, J.P. Qualls.
Shirley is survived by her daughter and special caregiver, Debra Head Crawford and her husband, Hugh S. Crawford, Jr. of Bloomingdale; a son, Kenneth Head and his wife, Angela Head of Fall Branch; three granddaughters, Crystal Crawford Haynes and her husband, Jason Haynes of Mt. Carmel, Caitlin LeighAnn Head and Alexis Danielle Head, both of Fall Branch; a great-grandson, Kaden S. Haynes of Mt. Carmel; three sisters, Ileene Clark and husband, Gene, Faye Wallen and husband, Roy of Kingsport, and Louise Qualls of Duffield, VA; one nephew, Joel Clark; four nieces, Karen McDavid, Katherine Bowen, Brenda Miller and Lisa Lane; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of cousins.
A special thank you goes out to Amedisys nurses, Becky, Sandra, Kris and Melissa for the care they provided to Ms. Head during her sickness.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 21st from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 22nd at 2:00 pm at Double Springs Missionary Baptist Church with her body being taken to the church one hour prior to service. Dr. Edward C. Dillowe and Rev. Jimmy Combs will be officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral service in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Wallen, Joel Clark, Jeremy Hale, Hagan Roberts III, Bobby Bowery and Adam Price. Honorary Pallbearers will be Crystal Haynes, Kaden Haynes, Caitlin Head, Alexis Head, Gene Clark and Logan Price.
