Shirley "Mamaw" Blakley Simpson, 56, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord around 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 after an extended illness with her family by her side.
Born and raised in the Mill Creek Community, Shirley had spent her entire life in Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by a son, David "Joey" Simpson; grandson, David J. Scharringhausen; father, Eby Truitt Blakley; brothers, Tony Blakley and Steve Allen Blakley; grandparents, Bill and Lucretta Blakley, Walter and Ada Boyer Hamilton; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doug and Pansy Simpson.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, David Simpson of Kingsport; daughter, Angela Scharringhausen and husband Todd; granddaughter, Marina Scharringhausen; mother, Pauline Blakley; two sisters, Ruth Jobe and husband Ron, Linda Payne and husband Jeff, all of Kingsport; two brothers, George Blakely and wife Debbie of Fall Branch, Bill Blakley and wife Gina of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law, Shirley Noel and husband Lowell; a very special friend, Mary Cody; several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts; and a host of friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center for their special care.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday September 14th at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Richard Hilton officiating.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
