Shirley Smith

Shirley R. Smith, 82, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2016. She was born in Kingsport, where she had been a lifelong resident. Shirley graduated from Lynn View High School. She was a charter member of Christ Fellowship where she taught Sunday School for several years.

She was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 62 years, owner and proprietor of Center-Dale Service, J.D. Smith; her parents, Farley Thomas Russell and Laura Elizabeth Jennings Russell; brother, Fred Odell Russell; sister, Josephine Russell Gass.

Shirley is survived by her son, Anthony Smith and wife, Audra; daughter, Teresa Roberts and husband, Randy; and caregiver and very special grandson, Dustin Chaffin and girlfriend, Echo, all of Kingsport.

A special thanks to friends and neighbor, Betty Roberts, Mona Crawford, Jean Moore and lifetime friends Diane and Billy Jack Stewart.

Friends may visit anytime, at the home of Anthony Smith 125 Monte Vista Dr., or the home of Theresa Roberts 1849 Euclid Rd.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00pm with Bishop Hagan Webb and Bishop Lester Turner officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
