Shirley Ann Marsh Waters, 78, Mt. Carmel, TN, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 24, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Wexford House following an extended illness.
Born in Kingsport on 22 April 1935. She was the daughter of the late William "Bill" and Edna Churchwell Marsh. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She was of the Baptist faith. Shirley was a Teacher's Aide for special needs children at Happy Time School in Burlington, NC for 25 years. She was also active with Special Olympics and "Camp Green Leaves".
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her former husband, Earl David Waters, Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Earl David Waters, Jr., Mt. Carmel, and Jeff D. Waters, Burlington, NC; daughter, Pam Waters Smith and husband, Doug, Liberty, NC; grandson and the light of her life, Michael Smith; brother, Larry Marsh and wife, Connie Egan Marsh, Kingsport; and extended members of the Waters and Marsh families.
The graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Liberty Hill Cemetery with Dawn Crowe officiating. Family members and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
