Shirley Whitaker Yonce, 79, Kingsport, TN, died at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007, after an extended illness.
She was born in Kingsport and attended Dobyns-Bennett High School. Mrs. Yonce was a homemaker and owner of Discount Foods in Jonesborough. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Her husband, James L. Yonce, Jr., parents, C. A. Whitaker Sr. and Lexie H. Whitaker, sister, Gaynell Jankey, and two brothers, C. A. Whitaker, Jr., and Donald Whitaker preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughters, Diana Parnell and husband Phil, Marty Southerland and husband Roger, son, James Lloyd Yonce, III and wife Lora, all of Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Kim Chandler and husband Don, Chris Lunsford and wife Amy, Alex Yonce, and Andy Southerland; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Blakely Chandler, Haddie and Elsie Lunsford; sister, Edith W. May and husband Bedford, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Kingsport, TN.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church with Phil Scott, Minister officiating.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
