Sibyl Owens Beals

Sibyl Owens Beals 94, of Kingsport went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 8, 2019. Sibyl was born in 1924 in Hansonville, Virginia.  She graduated from Lebanon High School and Steed Business College then started her career at Owen’s Letter Company.  She later worked at Bennett and Edwards Insurance, Tennessee Eastman Chemical and proudly served as President of the Kingsport Association of Insurance Women and Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was a member of Broad Street Methodist Church, the Crusade Sunday school class and was loved by and devoted to her family.  Sibyl enjoyed hosting family reunions, visiting her parents farm, dancing at Carter’s Fold and sharing stories from her childhood.

Sibyl was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Jackson an Alice Arrington Owens; and her beloved husband of 66 years, George Lewis Beals; seven brothers and four sisters, Henry, Hazel, Gladys, Beulah, Russell, Stuart, Cecil, James, Paul, John,and Stan Owens.

She is survived by one son and daughter, Gary and Angie Beals of Lawrenceville, Ga and Nancy and Dr. John Siner of Kingsport, TN; five grandchildren, Jeff and Lindsey Beals of Valdosta, GA, Greg and Elizabeth Beals of Lawrenceville, GA, Emily, Laura and Sarah Siner of Kingsport,TN; two great grandchildren, Canaan and Everett Beals of Valdosta, GA; and many nieces and nephews. 

The service celebrating the life of Sibyl Owens Beals will be held at First Broad Street United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, in the sanctuary with the Rev. Dr. Randy Frye and Rev. Jack Edwards officiating.

The family will be receiving friends in the Parlor following the service.
