Sonny Eugene Rickson, 78, of Gray, TN, died peacefully at his home on Saturday
(March 29, 2014).
He was born in Bristol, VA, where he lived most of his life. He was a long-time member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Bristol, TN. He served in the Tennessee National Guard for approximately ten years. Sonny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ada Rickson, and two brothers and a sister.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Rickson of Gray; daughter, Lisa Hayes, of Gray, TN; two granddaughters, Heather Nicole Hayes and Ashley Kay Hayes.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwight Jenkins officiating.
The inurnment will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Washington County Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
