Stanford J. Mitchell, 87, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord and his loving wife Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at his home. He retired from Tennessee Eastman and worked at two area funeral homes. Stanford was a Deacon and active member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church and belonged to the Bloomingdale Ruritans. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. Stanford was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie O. Mitchell; parents, Bill and Eda Mae Mitchell; and twin brother, Stanley G. Mitchell.
Stanford is survived by his daughters, Linda N. Mitchell of Knoxville and Regina M. Davenport and husband, Jeff of Gray; granddaughter, Carly L. Hutchins; sister, Sue Moore of Kingsport; half-brother, Roger Mitchell and wife, Lisa of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Friday, February 10th, 2012 at Bloomingdale Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Phil Whittemore and Pastor Joe W. Byrd officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park with the American Legion Posts #3/265.
