Stella Peggy Hughes

Stella Peggy Hughes, 74, Chuckey, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church and had retired from AFG Industries.

"We are put on this earth to serve others; truly her life was expressed in that she died while serving others."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Hughes; parents, Earl and Clara Dickerson; and brother, Kenneth Dickerson.

Surviving are her daughter, Lynda Hughes Dawson and husband Alan of Chuckey; one granddaughter, Lyndsay Dawson and fiancé Jordan Mynatt, both of Knoxville; one sister, Joenia Frady and husband David of Kingsport; two brothers, Johnny Dickerson and wife Jane, Randy Dickerson and wife Pauline, all of Chuckey; one special nephew, Doug Dickerson of Chuckey; two special great-nephews, Haven Dickerson and Jamie Skeen, both of Chuckey; several other beloved nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Barbara Clipse of Church Hill.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Donnie Bailey and Rev. Roger Dykes officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hommell, Clint Penley, Jeff Clipse, Carl Shepard, Tim White, Bill Reed, and Ronnie Bledsoe.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
