Stella Lockhart, 87, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 14, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Hendersonville, NC.
Mrs. Lockhart was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. She was a former member of Springdale Baptist Church in Kingsport. Mrs. Lockhart was a homemaker whose life revolved around the raising and nurturing of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. "Blackie" Lockhart; a son, Kenneth Lockhart; a daughter, Anna Lockhart; four brothers, Robert Stump, Gallie Stump, Don Stump, and Fred Stump; and three sisters, Gaynelle White, Alfreda Allen, and Idell Stump.
Mrs. Lockhart is survived by one daughter, Nora White of Kingsport; two sons, Wayne Lockhart and wife Lorraine of Columbia, SC, and Larry Lockhart and wife Nell of Greeneville, SC; nine grandchildren, Robin Waters and husband Beau, Monika Burgess, Kenny Lockhart, David Lockhart, Tony Lockhart and wife Donna, Pam Lewis and husband Todd, Tonya Patton, Lisa Bondy and husband Mark, and Stephen Lockhart and wife Sarah; a sister, Mary Sue Thomas of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor James Ashe officiating. Burial will take place following the funeral at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
