I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
Stella Fields Peters, 90, of Weber City, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday (March 31, 2014) surrounded by her 2 daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
She was of the Baptist faith. She loved to go to yard sales with her daughters, out to eat, her needlework (of which she was very generous in giving away) and working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Kermit Osborne (who was killed in service); her second husband, Elder Fred A. Peters; son, Kermit Charles Osborne; great-grandson, Mason Van Buren; mother, Sophie Dean; five brothers; and many friends.
Stella is survived by her daughters Sophia "Susie" (John) Martin of Church Hill, TN, and Teresa Kay (David) Powers of Surfside Beach, SC (who took care of her until the end); daughter-in-law, June Osborne of Nickelsville; her two sons, Earl Don (Karen) Peters and George Tony (Kathy) Peters both of Kingsport; a sister, Pearl Dean of Nickelsville; her grandchildren, Sophia Marie (David) Webb and children, Michael, Melissa, and Stella ("Izzy") who was named after her great-grandmother, Chelsie Martin, John (Dawn) Martin Jr., and children, Sierra, Savanna, Hope and Christopher, Dr. David (Korrene) Powers and children, Abishai, Benaiah, Gideon, and Astrid, Honey Van Buren and sons, Ethan and Mathis, Charles and Richard Osborne, Tanner Peters and wife and daughter, Myla, Tara and husband Zack and daughter, Janie, Tabby Peters and son Lucas, Zoe Peters, and Randy Peters and wife, Sandy, and daughter, Alicia, Sonya Peters.
We wish to thank her wonderful neighbors, Mike, Brenda, Coy and Shirley Tipton; sitters, Lesa Larkins, Dawn Martin, Sophia Webb, Dessa Woods, Rhonda Sands, Deborah Hartsock, Rebecca Reynolds, and Caris Hospice workers Vera, Teresa, and Debbie for all the love, care, and compassion they showed Mom in the last 2 weeks of her life.
Funeral services were privately held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home in Kingsport and burial was at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City.
We know you are finally at peace and rest and are no longer suffering. We love you Mom and will miss you.
