Steve A. Blakley, 51, of Scott County, Virginia, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was raised in Fall Branch, Tennessee, and resided in Scott County, Virginia, for a number of years. Steve was owner and operator of J. L. Distributor in Weber City, VA. He was a loving friend and companion and will be missed by all.
Preceding him in death were his father, Eby Truitt Blakley; a brother, Tony Blakley; a nephew, David Simpson; and his grandparents, Bill and Lucretia Blakley and Walter and Ada Boyer Hamilton.
Surviving are his mother, Pauline Blakley of Fall Branch; a special friend, Irene Richmond of Weber City; a stepson, Keith Richmond and wife Keli of Johnson City; three step-grandchildren, Kameron, Karson, and Karter Richmond; three sisters, Linda Payne and husband Jeff, Ruth Jobe and husband Ronnie, Shirley Simpson and husband David, all of Kingsport; two brothers, George Blakley and wife Debbie of Fall Branch, Bill Blakley and wife Gina of Myrtle Beach, SC; nieces and nephews, Alissa Nicole Blakley, Amanda Jobe Glass, Angie Scharringhousen, Daniel Jobe, Jason Payne, Jonathan Payne; several aunts and uncles; two beloved dogs, Ace and Junior; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport and any time at the homes of Irene Richmond and Pauline Blakley. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Mullins and Rev. James A. Snapp officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Double Springs Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Strong, Johnny McKay, Paul Willis, Wendell Porter, Rick Falin, Joe Mullins, Joe Nelson, Eddie Taylor, and Dale Busler. Honorary pallbearers will be Foster Qualls, Clyde Duckworth, Ewal Garrett, James Sturgill, and Rufus Rhoton.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Cardiovascular Associates and Dr. Haney and also a special thanks to Dr. Wilson at Holston Medical Group and the HMG staff.
