Sue Davidson

Sue Davidson died on Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was preceded by her Dad, Carl Frederick and is survived by a large family and friends. Children Linn and Erick, Mother Cleo, Sister Juanita and Brother Carl, longtime partner Allan Gilliam, grandchildren Ethan, Amaya, Simone, and special friend Sara.

Born in Fairmont, WVA Sue and family moved to Kingsport where she worked in numerous positions within Wellmont over 35 years, making many friends. Sue was particularly thankful for support received from co-workers and friends; when transitioning into a new home, she was given a "pounding" by her friends. It meant so much that she carried this tradition on, helping establish others as they entered new homes.

Sue was personally driven but always happiest when working with others. Both at work and at home, family and friends were most important and she went out of her way to support them; from catering family events & caring for family and friends after surgery to always making time to share meals together.

Even early in Fairmont, Sue loved to organize events and encourage others to achieve their best, earning the nickname Sergeant Fred in high school. Sue truly believed in people's ability to do anything.

Sue was similarly encouraging at home and at work in Kingsport: encouraging being a euphemism for a "force to be reckoned with". During one of the annual family vacations she hosted, her grandson at 5 years old asked her honestly "Nan, who made you the queen of everything?"

Sue would never sit still. Beginning at breakfast she would ask: "so what's on the agenda today." Most of her personal agenda was spent helping and visiting her children and grandchildren. Even in Knoxville, parents would be surprised if they did not see Sue at her grandson's practices.

In Kingsport, Sue and Allen enjoyed riding bikes on the creeper trail, taking trips to Asheville and was even known to get dirty rototilling the garden. She always loved being outside with a sense of adventure and a can-do attitude... Sue will be truly missed.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday from 4-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
