Sue McCray Strickler

Sue McCray Strickler, 80, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at her home and entered heaven's gates to meet her Savior and her beloved Bud.

She was a lifetime member of Beulah Baptist Church. Sue loved the Lord and loved serving the Lord. She was a loving and understanding wife, mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister.

Sue was an angel to everyone who knew her.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Buddy Strickler; sister, Olivene; brothers, Ralph, James, and Robert; and parents, Newt and Grace McCray.

She is survived by her son, Mike Strickler and wife Sherleen, Kingsport; daughter, Cathy Parker and special son-in-law Jim, Kingsport; son, Mike Jessee and wife Charlene Kingsport; grandchildren, Rachel David Burdine, David Jessee, and Matt Jessee; great-grandson, Bo Burdine; brothers, Vernon McCray and wife Martha, Kingsport, Georg McCray and wife Gin, Kingsport, and Roy McCray and wife Juanita, Nashville; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Cheryl Gillenwater, David and Marsha Davis, Linda Hamilton, her Sunday School Class, and Special thanks to her loving caregivers, Karen Gwinn and Beulah Bowen.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Beulah Baptist Church. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Al South officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir and Scott Shields.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Blalock, Lynn Gardner, Hugh Coffman, J. D. Lay, Richard McCray, and Daymon McCray, and David Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Archer, Gerald Malone, Harold Norris, Bro. Luther Reed, John "Slick" Slaughter, Marilyn Slaughter, Sam Hamilton, and Toby Lett.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 491 Beulah Church Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.
