Susan Palmer Browning Cooper, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2022 in the comfort of her own home. She was the widow of Robert Joseph Cooper (1948-2018) after sharing 45 years of marriage together.
Born in Ohio on February 25, 1951, Susan was the daughter of Ward and Nancy Browning. She grew up in Middletown, OH, and attended Tudor Hall School for Girls in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, with a Philosophy and Religion degree. She met her husband of 45 years at Assembly of God Church in Columbia, Missouri, and married Robert J. Cooper on July 14, 1974. As Susan and Bob began their lives together, they traveled and lived in several places such as Missouri, Hawaii, and California before finally settling in Nashville, TN during the early 1980s. She then earned her Nursing degree from Tennessee State University and worked as an RN in Nashville for over 25 years, primarily at Hendersonville Hospital.
Susan was a member of Hermitage United Methodist Church in Nashville before moving to Kingsport in 2016. She enjoyed reading, gardening, singing, going to the beach, and playing with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her joy, laughter, and strong Christian faith.
She is survived by her three children, Allison Davis and her husband Jym; Elizabeth McNutt and her husband Jonathan; and Andrew Cooper; as well as three grandchildren, Adrian Davis, Elijah McNutt, and Alaina McNutt; and her brother William Browning and his family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Stephanie Gragg, Tiarra Strong, and Madison Catron for providing Susan with compassionate and loving care during the last several years of her life. Special thanks also to Melinda Dobler, Becky Crawford, Joanna Strycharz, Grace Vogelsberg, Victoria Luther, Amanda Legge, and Bridgette Bible. You ladies allowed Susan to have the best quality of life at home with her family, and for that we are forever grateful.
