Sylvia Mae Godsey Miles

Sylvia Mae Godsey Miles, 71, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Miles was a longtime member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church and recently attended Austin Springs United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were one brother, Steve C. Godsey, Jr; and two sisters, Betty Jo Robinson and Mable Ruth Murray all of Kingsport.

Survivors include her husband, Earnest Dean Miles, Sr. of Kingsport; five daughters, Christine Kidd Holly of Elizabethton, Patricia Kidd Ray of Kingsport, Diana Kidd Moncier and husband Mike of Gray, Cynthia Kidd Baskett and husband David R. of Jonesborough, Felicia Kidd Russ of Fredericksburg, VA; three sons, Kenneth Perry Kidd, Jr. and wife Tammy of Tyler, TX, Earnest Dean Miles, Jr. and wife Brandy of Fall Branch, and Anthony Paul Miles of Church Hill; three brothers, Robert Lee Godsey and wife Retha of Kingsport, James Hughie Godsey and wife Sandra of Owens Crossroads, AL, and Bobby Gene Godsey of Kingsport. Grandchildren include Thomas C. Holly and wife Mandy, and Katie Holly Witten and husband Shawn of Elizabethton, Shelley and Heather Ray of Kingsport, Tyler, Blake and Taylor Moncier of Gray, Cody and Courtney Baskett of Jonesborough, Nicole Gilliam and husband Ian and Steven Boggs and wife Angel of Richmond, VA, Haley and Kensley Russ of Fredericksburg, VA, Ethin Miles of Fall Branch, Kayla and Kaitlyn Miles of Church Hill; one great-grandchild, Olivia Holly of Elizabethton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 9th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with services to be held immediately following. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Fleenor.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10th, at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 800 Truxton Drive, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Thomas C. Holly; Mike, Tyler and Blake Moncier; and David and Cody Baskett.
