Sylvia Marie Scism

Sylvia Marie Scism, of Blountville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born March 6, 1946 in Blountville, TN. Sylvia graduated from Holston High School, later attended Northeast State and was a bookkeeper for Radio Electric Supply for 27 years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Sylvia enjoyed playing softball and was a member of the Senior Olympics Championship Softball Team. She enjoyed farming and spending time with her family. Sylvia enjoyed raking hay on the Farm-All tractor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Pearl Good; infant twin brothers; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Scism on Sept. 13, 2015.

Sylvia is survived by her husband, of 46 years, Raymond Scism; daughter, April Marie Carberry and husband, Terry; the light of her life, her grandson, Justin Carberry; sister-in-law, Virginia Dishner of Kingsport, and Patricia Rutherford and husband, Jack of Blountville; and cousin, Jenelle Owens.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-5:30 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Randy Shupe and Rev. Scott Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Wellmont Hospice and all of her family and friends for their visits and food.
