Sylvia Sifferd, 78, of Kingsport was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Sylvia moved to Kingsport from Appomattox, VA in 1952. She attended ETSU and several industry- related training courses including the MMP program at the University of Virginia. She worked in the printing industry 42 years serving in various sales and marketing management positions at Kingsport Press/Arcata, Rose Printing of Tallahassee, Florida & Hart Graphics of Austin, TX. Sylvia retired in 1995. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose Chapter #1106.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ralph Sifferd; and parents, Strode Lee Burks and Virginia Louise Marks Burks; and brother, Mayo M. Burks.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Phil Cindy Ellington and husband Phil, Kingsport; sister, Mrs. H. Cecil Betty Fletcher, Kingsport; brother, Charles S. Burks and wife Wanda of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Mrs. Mayo M. Helen Burks of Kingsport; two much loved grandchildren, Derek Absher and Erica Whitaker and husband Rocky; four step-grandchildren; one much loved great-grandson, Joshua Whitaker; ten step-great grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren with one being very special, Robby Irvin; and five nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 15th at 11 a.m. All wishing to attend need to meet at Oak Hill Memorial Park by 10:45 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Gruber, Bob Wallen, Ben Wallen, Bruce Leinnar, Lynn Davis, Jack Campbell, Don Hall, and Keith Solt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sally Richard, Barbara Foust, Eloise McKinney, Pat Douthat, Melinda Maddox, Doris Cox, Jean Gruber, Vyvette Solt, Mary Swanay, Lois Hall, Zella Carter, Tammy Salyers, and Maria Rivera.
