Tena R. Tyree, 37, of Kingsport, formerly of Baxter, TN, died Monday morning, January 4, 2010, at her home after a courageous fight with cancer. Born in Baxter, TN, where she resided most of her life, she moved to Kingsport in 2007. Tena was owner of T3 Data Communications, LLC, in Kingsport. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Gentry, TN, and was attending Litz Manor Baptist Church in Kingsport. Tena was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Tyree; three children, Jacob, Jessi, and Jathan; two stepchildren, John and Luke, all of Kingsport; her mother, Brenda Steakley, Baxter, TN; her father, Lonnie Steakley, Baxter, TN; her paternal grandmother, Eva Steakley, Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Lanna Looper, Florence, Kentucky; two nieces, Taylor and Hunter; and several aunts, uncles , and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 6, from 4:00 until 7:00 at Litz Manor Baptist Church. Services will follow at 7:00, with Pastor Chris Alford officiating.
The family will again receive friends on Thursday, January 7, from 4:00 until 7:00 in Gentry, TN, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, followed by a service at 7:00 with Pastor Bill Cowan officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, at the Hughes Family Cemetery on Highway 70 in Baxter, TN. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
