Texas Roberts Cawood, a Kingsport, Tennessee resident for over fifty-five years, died peacefully Sunday morning, November 25, in Southport, North Carolina.
Born February 2, 1917, in Morristown, Tennessee, Mrs. Cawood was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and wife of the late W.W. Cawood, a former Mayor of Kingsport. She was active in a variety of Kingsport civic activities, clubs, and volunteer organizations before moving to North Carolina in 2000 to reside near her daughter.
Mrs. Cawood is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Nancy Cawood of Great Falls, VA; her daughter, Chris Cawood Eanes of Southport, NC; her sister, Nancy Roberts Smith of Kingsport; five grandchildren: Benjamin Cawood, Matthew Cawood, Lindsey Cawood, Monica Edwards, Alisa Eanes, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007 at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
