The Reverend Dr. Lewis Grady Lee

Matthew 25:21 Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

The Reverend Dr. Lewis Grady Lee, 85, Kingsport, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017. He served as a minister from the age of 15, and received his Th.D. from The International Bible Seminary & Institute in 1989. Grady retired from the Mead Corporation and had been Pastor of Mount Vernon Independent Methodist Church in Kingsport for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Kindle Lee; parents, W.C. and Bertha (Lloyd) Lee; grandson, Joseph Luke Arwood; granddaughter, April L. Dorton; sisters, Alberta Ketron and Kathleen Meade; and brothers, Lyle, Carl, Howard, W.H., and Charles Lee.

Grady is survived by his son, Carlin David Lee of Kingsport; daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Dorton of Duffield; grandsons, Jacob Lee Arwood of Bridgeville, PA, and Christopher (Cassie) Dorton of Duffield; sisters-in-law, Betty Kindle, Gerri Lee, and Shelby Douglas; several nieces and nephews; many precious friends; wonderful neighbors, Lee Ann and Jared Lewis, Kenny and Rosalie Stallard; and a loving, dear, church family.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Richard Fleming and Rev. Gale Hartley officiating. Special music will be provided by Tammy Smith, Dan Odom, and Linda Horne.

The graveside service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those attending the service are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. and then proceed to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Arwood, Mike Dorton, Chris Dorton, Randy Compton, Andy Tweed, Robbie Cain, Craig Needham and Dan Odom. His fellow preaching brethren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
