Thelma Genevieve Milam Mauk, 90, of Kingsport passed away Saturday July 3, 2010, at NHC Healthcare in Johnson City.

A native of Kingsport, she was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She met and married her husband, of 58 years, Ryland Mauk, on August 22, 1937. Mrs. Mauk worked as a certified dental assistant for many years for Dr. Horace C. Martin.

Thelma was a member of First Christian Church where, as an active member, she taught in the women's Sunday school class, sang in the choir, served as women's circle president, and took part in the church planting team where she would also play the piano.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents: Mr. and Mrs. Roby Milam, son, Jack Mauk; sisters, Mrs. J. D. Cleo Crosswhite, Mrs. Mack Blanche Hicks and Mrs. Brantley Dorothy Blue; brother, Tom Milam; and son-in-law, T. Blue Sanderson.

Surviving are one daughter, Beth Sanderson, Cumming, GA; one son, Roby Millard Mauk and wife, Connie, Spring Hill, TN; five grandchildren, Becky Mauk, Tom Sanderson, Kari Beth Boles, Gina Holtzclaw and Christi Roper; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Pete Eileen Ramsey, Johnson City; and several nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Phillip Sams, minister, officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Blountville Cemetery.
