Thelma (Jean) Skelton

Thelma (Jean) Skelton, 86, was called home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2019 after an extended illness. She passed away at Holston Valley Hospital surrounded by her family.  Jean was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She attended Pleasant View Baptist Church and loved to play the piano and sing gospel songs.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

A special thank you to some very close friends, Susan and Jim Bishop, and Bobbie Skelton, and to the nurses and staff at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Skelton Smith; brother, Ron Wright; and parents, Ola and Everett Wright.

Jean is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edsel (Eddie) Skelton; brother, Don Wright; grandchildren, Travis and Heather Gardner, Nicole and Jason Calhoun, and Kristin and Randy Hilton; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Pleasant View Baptist Church.  The memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.
