Therese Teri Elizabeth Vautrin, Kingsport, met St. Therese in Heaven Saturday November 24, 2007 at the age of 56.
During her years on Earth, Teri touched many lives through her work in rural community development and grassroots organizing. Her efforts to affect social change helped countless others and her leadership will be greatly missed.
Teri was a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always had a kind word, a gentle smile, and warm encouragement for everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Townes, Jr.
Surviving are her husband, Rich Vautrin; her daughters, Winnie Davis and Jenifer Vautrin; grandchildren, Kyra Vautrin-Davis, Ayla Vautrin-Davis, and Richard Vautrin-Hickam; her mother, Retha Townes; four brothers, William Edward Townes III and wife, Linda, Charles Sonny Townes and wife, Debra, Michael Gibby Townes and wife, Kim, and Robert A. Townes and wife, Carolyn; six sisters, Deloris Butz, Roseanne Hall, Malia Kite and husband, Jerry, Michelle Domby and husband, Thomas, Kateri Fields and husband, Jerry, and Mary Cross and husband, Randy; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday 5:00 PM at Prospect Methodist Church in Yuma, VA with Pastor Allen Karnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
