Tom Bishop, 77, of Kingsport, passed away at his home early Tuesday morning. Tom was born in Harlan, KY, and later moved to Detroit where he worked for the Budd Manufacturing Company. After his retirement in 1983, he moved to Kingsport. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served during the Korean War. Tom attended Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Nora Bishop.
Tom is survived by a sister, Alberta Good and husband Jack of Gate City, VA; a niece, Sherri Devine and husband Tim of California; a nephew, Jeff Good and wife Gillisa of Kingsport; three great-nieces, Jeserae and Chelsea Good and Hanna Devine; and a great-nephew, Ryan Devine.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Baker officiating.
Burial will be in Holston View Cemetery on Friday at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Joe Good, Bob Boling, Stoney Colley, James Bishop, Mike Bays, and Edgar Gamble.
