Thomas Gemmey Fudge passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 25, 2018 at Waltonwood Retirement Community in Cary, NC. Known as "Tom" or "TG" to his friends and family, he was a long time resident of Wexford Plantation in Hilton Head Island, SC. Tom was born in Abingdon, VA on September 27, 1929 to Ella Mae Henderson Fudge and Donald Dunham Fudge. Tom was a Sullivan High School Graduate and U.S. Air Force Veteran. He married Ruby Sarah Sumrall from Indianola, MS in 1953. Tom Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1955. He was hired by Tennessee Eastman Company and moved back to Kingsport that year. Tom spent his entire career at Eastman Kodak and retired from Eastman Chemical as Vice President of Chemicals in 1985. Tom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport and active in many community activities including the Boy Scouts and Junior Achievement. Most notably Tom served as President of Habitat for Humanity for several years after his retirement.
Tom is survived by his wife, Ruby; his brother, John Fudge (wife Judy); his daughter, Lauren Fudge Mooney (husband Ken Mooney), and son, David D. "Chip" Fudge (wife Betty). He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Kemper Huber officiating.
