Thomas D. Hicks, 75, Kingsport, died peacefully early Sunday morning June 24, 2007 surrounded by his family.
Tom lived a full life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and his family was very important to him.
Tom was also a successful businessman. He and his son, Steve, were the owner/operators of Hicks Tire Center for more than 20 years. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War. He was also an active member of St. Timothy?s Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mardie and Mattie Hicks; sister, Clydie Weatherholtz; two brothers, Bruce and Dave Hicks.
Surviving are his wife, Dee Hicks; children, Steve Hicks and wife, Karen, Kingsport, Demmie Hicks and partner, Noel Gregg, Atlanta, GA, Keith Hicks and wife, Kathy, Dunwoody, GA, and Kim Colosi and husband, Dave, Carmel, IN; eight grandchildren, Stephen Hicks, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Chris Hicks, Amy Gollehon, Sarah, John, and Emily Hicks, and Anna and Megan Colosi; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob Hicks, Charleston, SC.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy?s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Dr. Lee Schaefer officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service, and everyone is invited to a luncheon after the receiving of friends in the fellowship hall.
Inurnment will be at St. Timothy?s Episcopal Church.
