Thomas Wayne Jackson

Thomas W. Jackson, 72, of Kingsport, died Monday March 1, 2010 at his home after an extended illness. Born in Kingsport where he has lived all of his life, Tommy was a 1955 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Tommy retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1976 due to health reasons. He was a charter member of Grace Covenant Church.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lucille Jackson.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Y. Jackson of the home; daughters, Debbie Hughes and husband George of Gray, Robin Thouin and husband Hank of Kingsport, and Tammy Hodge and husband Danny of Kingsport; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Brad Hughes, Abigail and Thomas Thouin, Katie, Emily and Jackson Hodge; sisters, Barbara Palmer and husband Gary of Kingsport and Patricia Jones and husband Dan of Montgomery, AL; brother, Richard Jackson and wife Val of Alpharetta, GA; aunt, Kitty Powell of Kingsport; uncle, Arthur Salyer of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Grace Covenant Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Ed Clevinger and Pastor Garry Eads officiating.

Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Brad Hughes, Neal Bussell, Joe Crawford, Josh Jackson, Aaron Burrell, and Stephen Jones, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Clevinger and Rich Jackson.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Dr. Daniel Dickerson and his nurse, Carla, and the nurses of Mountain State Home Health for their wonderful care.
