Thomas P. Johnson, 63, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Easter morning, April 12, 2009, after an extended illness. Tom was born in Kingsport, where he resided all his life. He was a 1964 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and attended East Tennessee State University.
Tom worked in sales all of his adult life. He was a member of Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church and Colonial Heights Eagles # 3274.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Grover C. and Marie Davis Johnson.
His is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sherry Correll Johnson of Kingsport; daughter Tonya Lenaye Johnson of Kingsport; sister Evelyn McConnell of Kingsport; brother Grover Charles Johnson of Saigon, Vietnam; special nephew and niece Jeff and Jane McConnell, Hiltons, VA; nephew Bobby Thomas McConnell, Kingsport; and niece Kristi Wells, of Kingsport; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, one great niece; special caregiver, Stephen Taylor, and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Anderson and Rev. John Hackney officiating. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the church. A private graveside service will be held Friday in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kendricks Creek UMC c/o Building Fund, 1000 Kendricks Creek Rd, Kingsport, TN 37663.
