Thomas Leonard Mays, 76, Kingsport, died at his home late Thursday evening, July 5, 2007 following an extended illness.
Born in Russell County, VA, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. Leonard was a self-employed plumber.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Thomas W. and Eunice Mays; one son, Michael Mays; and a sister, Mary Lois Murray.
Surviving are the mother of his children, Edith Mays, Kingsport; two daughters, Vicki Keys and husband, Sam, Surgoinsville, TN; and Jani Mays Powers; two sons, David Mays and wife, Vickie, Kingsport, Bobby Mays and wife, Kim, Bristol, VA; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Eremity, Greer, SC; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Wellmont Hospice.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Greater Kingsport, 2141 Idle Hour Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
