Thomas "Mike" Chapman

Thomas "Mike" Chapman, 60, of Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 21, 2017 at UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Born in Kingsport on September 4, 1956, a son of the late Howard E. Chapman and Edith Baeder Chapman of Kingsport, he had resided in this area his entire life. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and attended Northeast State College. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and retired from J.P. Stevens in 2001 following 22 years of service. Mike will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, dad, pappy, brother and friend who loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard E. Chapman, and uncles, John Wayne Chapman, James Preston Chapman and Marion Chapman; and aunt, Margaret "June" Booher.

Mike is survived by his wife, Levonda "Bonnie" Chapman; 2 daughters, Karen Jacobs and Sherry Dykes and husband, Sam, all of Kingsport; 3 grandchildren, Makayla Sutherland, Kasey Ward and Shanda Bolden; 2 great-grandchildren, Aiden Dykes and soon to be born, Karson Sutherland; mother Edith Baeder Chapman of Kingsport; uncle, Luther Chapman and wife, Dorothy of Bristol, TN; sisters, Patricia Chapman of Kingsport, and Lesley Chapman and husband, Scott Thurston of Kingsport; aunt, Harriet Chapman; several cousins; and longtime friends, Donald Bagley and Charles Mullins.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 6-7:00 pm at Concordia Lutheran Church, 725 Truxton Dr., Kingsport, TN. The Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Becker officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Bagley, Charles Mullins, Ray Price, and Steve Lane.
