Tom J. Collins

Tom J. Collins, 79, was called to his eternal home on January 21, 2015 and will be reunited with the love of his life and our mom, Mildred Collins. He was born May 24, 1935 to Harvey (Zoe) and Emma Collins. Tom retired from the dietary department at Holston Valley Community Hospital after 40 years of service. He was a member of Herman United Methodist Church. Over the years, Tom had been active in various community organizations.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Collins, grandson, Jason Boyer, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Tom is survived by daughters, Brenda (Jerry) Graham, Glenda Campbell, and Janie Hensley; grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Graham, Samuel and Stephen (Tori) Mays, Hannah Campbell and Julie Hanmer; great-granddaughter, Kalynn Graham; brothers, Gene and Dale (Peggy) Collins; several nieces, nephews and cousins; friend and neighbor, Kathy Begley and all the neighbors who knew him as paw paw.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 in the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Broughton officiating. Special music directed by John Powers. Burial will follow at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice, especially Joanie and Lois.
