Sullivan County, Benjamin Thomas Moore, age 78, son of Benjamin Williams Moore and Hilma Gertrude Nichols Moore, was born and reared in Memphis, TN. He served honorably in the US Navy as an air crewman/radio operator, stationed in Morocco. He completed undergraduate studies at Memphis University and earned a Master of Science degree in City Planning at the University of TN, Knoxville. His professional career in government service began in Memphis, TN. He later served as Director of First TN Development District, was a City Manager of Bristol, TN and retired from the US Environmental Protection Agency.
He married and is survived by Lou Ann McCulley Moore. He was the father of Heather Ellen Moore Kunysz, who resides with her husband John on the family farm in Sullivan County, TN and Andrew McCulley Moore of Steamboat Springs, CO.
His retirement years were spent in Sullivan County on the family farm which has been designated a Pioneer Farm, established 1782. He was an avid reader and student of World War II and Confederate histories, had a keen interest in genealogy and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm in the Thomas Easley/McCulley Cemetery on Sunday, December 16, 2018. Sharon Amstutz, Associate Pastor, First Presbyterian Church, will lead the service with military rites provided by The American Legion Posts 3/265.
