Franklin Thomas "Tom" Runion, 74, of Blountville passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, August 31, 2014 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Born in Erwin, TN on February 13, 1940, a son of the late Ralph T. and Ann Love Runnion, he lived in this area his entire life. Tom graduated from Erwin High School and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Having worked at Univac and Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin, he retired from Raytheon Corporation. Tom was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was of Baptist faith. Tom enjoyed books and reading, country music and loved to play the guitar.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Aileen Harr Runion; sisters Rotha Peterson and husband, Paul of Johnson City, TN, Marilyn Kounovsky and husband Mike of Gretna, NE; brother Glenn Runnion of Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law Helen Steadman of Blountville, TN; brother-in-law Wayne Harr of Franklin, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 pm in the chapel with graveside service following at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
