Tomiko Adkins

Tomiko Adkins, 94, of Blountville, TN, passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday morning, August 4, 2024. Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, she met her husband while he was stationed overseas. She later moved to America with him, becoming a naturalized citizen, and together they raised their loving family. Tomiko loved to read, knit and watch the Dallas Cowboys; she enjoyed traveling and loved to get away and see new things. Tomiko enjoyed living life to the fullest. 

Ms. Adkins is welcomed in heaven by her son, Ed and husband of 55 years, Gene, and grandsons, Samuel Matthews and David Matthews.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Keith Adkins (Cathy), Carrol Adkins, Kay Hurd (Pat), Barbara (Chibi) Fields (Wayne) and David Adkins (Julie); daughter-in-law, Cindy Adkins; grandchildren, Nikisha Sambat (Byron), Jonathan Sage, Jason Sage, Jessi Talley, Marcus Hutchison, Ashley Hurd, Sean Adkins, Cayla Daniels (Chris), Briana Daly (Thomas), Alexander Adkins (Rob); great-grandchildren, Tyler Sage, Xavier Sage, Miles Sage, Madeline Hanes, Alden Adkins, Sophie Culberson, Sawyer Daniels, Harper Matthews and Emilee Talley; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and several other relatives in Japan.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, 2630 Hwy. 75, Blountville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Rayburn officiating.   A graveside service will follow in Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park, Garden of Prayer.
