Tommy Lloyd

Thomas A. “Tommy” Lloyd, age 71, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, January 28, 2020 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Hawkins County on April 12, 1948, a son of the late Reece and Pearl Ford Lloyd, he had resided in this area his entire life. He graduated from Church Hill High School in 1967 and married Rita Wallen on April 18, 1975 in Gate City, VA. Tommy was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Quebecor in 1992 following 25 years of service.  He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, daddy, papaw, brother and friend who loved his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Helen (Lloyd) Miller, Frankie Lloyd, Reba Lloyd and Ada (Lloyd) Bloomer.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Rita Lloyd of Church Hill; daughter, Elisabeth Lloyd of Church Hill; son, Thomas Ray Lloyd and wife, Katrina of Church Hill; 2 grandchildren, Kinley Lloyd and Dylan Lloyd; sisters, Jennie (Lloyd) Baker and husband, Lionel of Kingsport, and Nita (Lloyd) Dixon and husband, Bobby of Church Hill; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Rick Holt; and special furry friend, Darla.

A Veterans Appreciation service will be conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #979 at 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12-2:00 pm and at other hours at the residence. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Lennis France officiating. Special music will be provided by the Lawson Family.  Burial will follow in Mt. Mitchell Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by The American Legion, Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265.
