Tommy Glen Pleasant, 62, passed from death to life eternal on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Kingsport, where he resided most of his life, he played football at Ketron High School and was an avid Indian artifact collector. Tommy retired from Editors Press in Hyattsville, Maryland after many years of service. He was a member of New Covenant Pentecostal Church in Kingsport.
The family would like to thank Bristol Regional Medical Center and Wellmont Hospice House for all their care and support.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Ruth Pleasant.
Tommy is survived by 3 daughters, Tara Scott and husband, Troy of Maryland, Tracy Sledgeski and husband, Matt of Maryland, and Sarah Russell of North Carolina; son, Tommy Pleasant and wife, Erin of Maryland; 6 grandchildren, Emma and Cole Sledgeski, Sophie and Ryder Scott, and Jackson and Brody Pleasant; 4 sisters, Joan Michelson and husband, Larry of Florida, Shirley Walters and husband, John of Kingsport, Linda Oaks and husband, James of Kingsport, and Helen Hall and husband, Virgil of Morristown, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Tommy was loved by all.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-3:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor John Walters and Rev. Helen Hall officiating. The burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery.
