Trula Mullenix

Trula Morelock Mullenix, age 84, a wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and widow of the late Orlen H. Mullenix, entered the arms of our heavenly father Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Indian Path Medical Center. She was surrounded by her sisters, Wanda Morelock and Lucille Martin.

Mrs. Mullenix was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee, graduated from Sullivan High School, and was employed by Tennessee Eastman Company before raising a family.

She was a lifelong and devoted member of Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, served faithfully for many years as a deacon?s wife, Sunday school teacher, member of the Mt. Carmel Quartet, and most recently, a member of the Mt. Carmel FWB Choir. She will long be remembered for her faith in God and sharing His goodness and love to all she knew. An avid gardener, quilter, and cook, she served many Sunday meals to family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Orlen; her parents, Flora and Mertie Mae Morelock; sisters, Leora Morelock, Delores Dykes, Lynne Smith, Frances Overbey; and brothers, Trammel Morelock and Garfield Morelock.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Sandy and Stuart Thompson, Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Marty, and adored grandson, Marcus, Kingsport; granddaughters, Tammy and James Byerley, Kingsport, Missy and Phil Jennison, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Marissa Byerley, Colten and Clayton Jennison; sisters, Lucille Martin, Wanda Morelock; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Morelock, Irene Littleton, Martha Sue Mullenix, Dolly Mullenix, Lorene Mullenix; brothers-in-law, Hansel Dykes, James Overbey, Ralph Littleton, C. J. ?Jay? Mullenix, Joseph Charles Mullenix, Marvin ?Babe? Mullenix; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 10th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 11th, at the church with Rev. Bobby Kratusch, pastor, and Rev. Keith Williams, former pastor, officiating. The Mt. Carmel FWB Choir will provide music.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel FWB Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Mullenix, Gary Littleton, Perry Dykes, James Byerley, Carlos Bise, and Josh Holley.

The children wish to thank their aunt, Wanda Morelock, for her special loving and tender care in serving as Mom?s caregiver since Dad?s passing. May God richly bless you. A special thank you also goes to their uncle, Hansel Dykes, for grave opening for both Mom and Dad. Thanks additionally to the fine doctors and nurses at Indian Path, and to Dr. Richard Reed and his nurse, Renee. A special thanks to Marcine Robinette, Mom?s primary nurse at Indian Path.
